For administrators, the Norwegian language FirstClass Client 10.009 System Upgraders are available from FCOL. Each will add the corresponding FirstClass client installer to your All Desktops group's resources folder, and update ClientDownloads in Internet Services > WWW. Users logging in with an 8.301 or newer client will be presented with a client update dialog.
New Product Features, Fixes, and Enhancements
The new client features and fixes are listed below:
- The FirstClass Unread Item Tracking System has been significantly enhanced. The key new capability is that it will now provide the count for the number of unread items in each container. This new information is displayed with a counter replacing the red flag on containers. The familiar red flags will still be used to provide the unread status for individual objects.
- Space bar scrolling in message bodies moves one whole screen at a time instead of 1/3.
- MP3 player now supports QuickTime atoms in MP3 files.
- Search functions in the message body updated to work in UTF8. This includes selection by word, spell check, search and replace. All of these functions were previously broken in the presence of non-7-bit character codes.
- Search string is now highlighted when you open an item from a hit list.
- Opening documents via links (both in Help and elsewhere) now works properly instead of causing a 1081 error.
- Charset with UTF8 (OFF) and 9.1 server always stayed with UTF8, now adjusts to Mac Roman on Mac and Win Latin on Windows/Linux.
- A number of UTF8 issues have been fixed.
- Resized Server Monitor and Advanced Mail forms so that there should be enough space to display the text for all tabs on a single line, without wrapping.
- Folders corresponding to exported messages didn't begin with ___, which is needed for import to recognize that the folder represents a message.
- Missing strings added in Preference form.
- Adding new contact from phone message now knows it's a phone number.
- Possible crash when receiving Outlook mail has been fixed.
- There are now only three types of calendars that can be printed: Day, Week, and Month views. Each type can be printed normally (similar to the on-screen view) or printed as a list (similar to the old Today List).
- Print Tasks, which prints a list of all ongoing tasks, applies only when printing a list.
- A view equivalent to the old Today List can be obtained by printing a Day View as a list with Print Tasks checked off.
- There are new properties controlling the data that can be printed. Users can optionally print end times, locations, icons, and the name of the person who created each event.
- A new property allows the user to specify that only events falling during working hours should be printed.
- Printing as a list is two-column unless one or both of Print Event Creator and Print Locations are checked.
- Print Layout has a new option to control whether the calendar header is printed or not.
- The list of open calendars is printed in the main calendar header (left of the mini-month views).
- Calendar printing now respects the user's time zone.
- Day headers use less space in list mode, and there is less space between events, allowing more events to fit on a page.
- Fixed errors with general header printing, so that the name of the person printing the file will always be displayed when requested.
- Fixed printing of calendar titles; the title is now a list of all viewed calendars.
- Monthly calendars now printing with the correct date range in the calendar header.
- Calendar printing now properly prints multiple months/weeks/days.
- Punch-through events and events with a color explicitly set are printed with the appropriate colors in all views.
- Clicking 'Default' on the Print Layout dialog no longer resets all preferences.
- Cross Timezone no longer makes the calendar month view corrupted.
- Current day highlight in month view now respects the user's time zone.
- Week view now properly highlights the current day.
- Dates shown in the calendar for day, week, and month views has been fixed.
- When creating an event directly from the calendar pane, the letters A, M, and P are no longer interpreted as part of the time unless they form (exactly) AM or PM, and are not part of another word like “Amusing”.
- [Mac OS X] Macintosh pasting improved.
- [Mac OS X] An error where the print dialog could become useless (clicking buttons would do nothing) after printing multiple times on the Mac has been fixed.
- [Linux] The Linux client no longer crashes when clicking on the Messaging tab under Edit -> Preferences.
- The client now includes OTSM icons.
- Customers with a ß character in their password can now log in properly.
- Corrected spelling of "Licence" to "License" on the System Profile licensing tab.
- Clicking on the Mail navigation button now expands your mailbox to show subfolders, making it similar to every other button on the navigation pane.
- Removed the 'Go Back' and 'Go Forward' buttons.
- Fixed a number of missing menu items.
- Files of all kinds can now be dragged and dropped into a message body.
- Pictures can now be dragged into a message body properly again.
- Weekly and monthly printouts now use a different positioning algorithm. A blank weekly or monthly calendar should now take up an entire page. Each row has an 'ideal height' - the space the row would take up on an empty calendar. The positioning will keep row sizes as close to the ideal height as possible, while trying to get as much onto a single page as possible.
- If you create a new event on a location calendar, the event will be created with the location name set to the name of the calendar (i.e. an event created on the 'Boardroom' location calendar has its location set to 'Boardroom'). This only affects event creation; the location can be changed as desired.
- Fixed a bug with list mode printing that was occasionally printing incorrect data instead of the event start and end time.
- Printing a closed calendar from the desktop no longer crashes.
- Calendar printing no longer crashes when printing a week view with 'Working Hours Only' checked.
- Calendar printing no longer crashes when printing a day view with events where the start time and end time are equal.
- Current day header on the work week calendar now uses a different, more noticeable, color to distinguish it from other days.
- Copy Calendar Event may now keeps its settings.
- Tasks now print in the same order they are displayed within the client.
- Fixed an error with the wrong preview image being shown when you first open the print layout dialog when printing a calendar.
- Fixed checkboxes on the print layout dialog that were disabled or in weird states when printing a calendar (print on the toolbar, File -> Print, Ctrl+P) without ever having set properties through File -> Print Layout.
- Now able to import a file containing more than one bookmark.
- Importing now imports attachments on Mac and multiple attachments on both Mac and Windows.
- Importing now looks for attachments in the proper folder.
- Importing a message no longer fails if the folder name for the message is over 63 bytes long.
- Attachments can now be imported for exported documents with attachments.
- The client will allow file uploading for files with names greater than 63 bytes in length. Names are shortened to 63 bytes, properly preserving the file extension, since the server still has a 63-byte limit.
- File transfer no longer changes .docx extension to .doc.
- [Windows/OS X] Creating calendar events by clicking on the calendar and typing a number no longer adds the time to the event subject.
- [Windows/OS X] Ctrl+Clicking on a window's title bar and selecting a parent container for the current window properly opens the parent container once again.
- [OS X] Possible crash when click Nav Desktop after open a contact form has been fixed.
- [Linux] Right-clicking a message or event no longer shows the Color submenu without the text 'Color', and other formatting messages that don't apply (Font, Font Face, and Size) don't show up at all.
